Fanigan is a medication designed to relieve severe pain and inflammation. It also works as a fever reducer.
- It’s a combination drug with dual action
- Provides effective emergency relief
- Quickly relieves even severe pain
- Available in different forms
- Completely safe when used correctly
To explain in more detail what Fanigan helps with, it’s primarily used for toothaches, arthritis and rheumatism, and pain in the back, muscles, or joints. Fanigan tablets also help with various types of neuralgia, menstrual pain, and pain from injuries and after surgeries. Additionally, when discussing Fanigan and what these tablets are used for, it’s important to note that it doesn’t treat the underlying cause of pain but very effectively relieves it. This happens thanks to the drug’s composition, specifically the combination of diclofenac and paracetamol (acetaminophen). This combination powerfully reduces pain, both inflammatory pain (from tissue inflammation) and neuropathic pain (related to the nervous system).
Speaking about Fanigan for tooth pain, it’s worth noting that this is one of the most common reasons this medication is prescribed. Dental problems and procedures can be accompanied by tissue swelling and inflammation, pain and a “shooting” nerve sensation, and sometimes elevated temperature. All of this may require the use of Fanigan—which is precisely what it helps with.
Overall, this medication is used in orthopedics and traumatology, rheumatology, and gynecology. But in any case, it should be prescribed by a doctor, because it’s important to know exactly how to take it, in what dosage, etc.

How to Take Fanigan for Tooth Pain
You should take Fanigan for tooth pain exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Typically, this means:
- Dosage: 1 tablet, 2-3 times daily. Interval between doses: 6-8 hours
- Duration: 3-5 days, no longer
- When: Only after meals
Knowing about Fanigan—how to take it and the exact dosage for yourself—is extremely important. This is a short-term medication, meant for quickly addressing a specific problem. And that problem can vary. It might be just severe pain, or pain combined with swelling or inflammation, for example. That’s why there are instructions for Fanigan, just like for any other medication. They provide more detailed information and explain all the nuances.
Fanigan Composition and Instructions for Use
Speaking in more detail about Fanigan’s composition, there are two main components. In other words, Fanigan’s active ingredients are a combination of:
- Diclofenac (50 mg dosage)
- Paracetamol (500 mg dosage)
Diclofenac is considered the more powerful component, as it provides a strong analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect. If this is “help” for dental problems, it essentially “extinguishes” the existing inflammation while also reducing swelling and eliminating pain. Paracetamol, in turn, enhances diclofenac’s action by also affecting pain centers and lowering body temperature if present. Together, they definitely work more powerfully than separately.
Interestingly, this medication exists not only as Fanigan tablets. Its forms include tablets and gel. Fanigan Fast gel is also effective but is simply used in different cases than tablets. Generally, the difference between them is:
- Fanigan tablets: For internal use and specifically for tooth pain and certain inflammatory processes in the oral cavity or maxillofacial area
- Fanigan gel: Only for external use and never on mucous membranes. Applied to the outer part of the cheek. Intended for pain and inflammation in joints and soft tissues of the jaw, including gingivitis and periodontitis, as well as TMJ (temporomandibular joint) arthritis/arthrosis
Important details you can also learn about Fanigan in the instructions:
- If it’s the tablet form (most commonly used), don’t chew it—just swallow with water
- Don’t take it “just in case” for prevention—only when indicated for specific symptoms
- Before use, familiarize yourself not only with indications but also contraindications and possible side effects
- Don’t independently exceed dosage, frequency, or duration of use—only if prescribed by a doctor
- Not recommended to combine with certain other medications, namely other painkillers and additional paracetamol. Regarding antibiotics, you should also consult with a doctor
- The instructions don’t recommend Fanigan tablets specifically for children under 12 (especially without a doctor’s prescription). For elderly people, caution is also needed due to their issues with blood pressure, liver, etc.
Besides how to take it, patients often have questions about Fanigan: how long does it take to work and for how long? Fanigan works in approximately half an hour to an hour. Its effect lasts about 4-6 hours, sometimes up to 8. This all depends on pain intensity and individual sensitivity of each organism.
Indications and Contraindications
Using a medication like Fanigan has its indications and contraindications. It’s important to know them, as this isn’t just a “mild” pain pill—it’s a quite potent medication. It’s better to even consult with a doctor about taking it, in addition to independently studying the indications and contraindications.
Fanigan: Indications
- Dental and musculoskeletal jaw pain (such as after tooth extraction, or with periodontitis or pulpitis)
- Jaw and facial trauma
- Pain from neuralgia (specifically nerve inflammation anywhere—whether in the face, back, neck, etc.)
- Fever from elevated body temperature
- Swelling and pain (post-traumatic or post-operative)
Fanigan: Contraindications
- Individual intolerance to components (specifically allergy to paracetamol or diclofenac)
- Gastrointestinal problems (stomach ulcer and chronic gastritis, as well as various gastrointestinal bleeding in medical history)
- Impaired liver and kidney function (like nephropathy)
- Asthma (especially in acute phase)
- Heart failure
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding period

We should mention separately Fanigan and blood pressure. People who have hypertension (high blood pressure) shouldn’t take this medication without consulting a doctor. In general, just as you shouldn’t independently take it if you have any other contraindications described above.
Side Effects of Fanigan
Fanigan does have side effects, but in reality, these are extremely rare cases. The main thing is to follow the necessary dosage, frequency, and duration of use, and everything will be fine.
Among the most common side effects that can occasionally occur:
- Nausea, heartburn, abdominal pain
- Mild allergic reaction in the form of itching or skin rash—sometimes difficulty breathing and facial swelling
- Dizziness and drowsiness
- Yellowing of skin and eyes
- Darkening of urine
- Bitter taste in the mouth
- Blood pressure fluctuations
Usually most of these possible side effects go away on their own. This happens almost immediately after stopping the medication or reducing its dose. However, if any of this appears and causes particularly noticeable discomfort, you should immediately consult a doctor for help and completely stop taking the medication!
