Preparatory Stage: Diagnosis and Implantation Planning

The first consultation with the doctor occurs, where the specialist conducts a comprehensive oral cavity and damaged tooth examination, collects medical history, assesses patient condition—alveolar and jawbone density and thickness, creates treatment plan, prepares oral cavity for implant placement, selects implant system and implantation method, and forms work estimate.

Then diagnostic procedures occur: panoramic X-ray, CT scan, blood tests are taken. 3D planning of the implantation process using a scanner occurs. Oral cavity sanitation, cavity treatment, and professional teeth cleaning are performed.

Surgical Stage: Implant Placement

A dental implant from the chosen material is placed in the jawbone under local anesthesia, sedation, or general anesthesia. First, a gum incision is made. Then bed formation occurs (necessary for creating proper gum contour for subsequent implant prosthetics). Then—implant screwing with subsequent suture placement.

Osseointegration Period: Implant Integration

With proper anesthesia, dental implantation is absolutely painless. Depending on case complexity, different anesthesia types are used—local, sedation, general anesthesia. Since this operation disrupts soft tissue integrity, affects nerve endings and vessels, there are certain unpleasant sensations. Minor discomfort is possible, but not pain—this is normal.

Sometimes for 1-2 days after the procedure, the area around the implant may be swollen and hurt slightly. Using cold compresses and anti-swelling medications will help reduce pain, prevent swelling, and shorten recovery period duration.

Front Tooth Implantation: Aesthetic Zone Features

In case of front tooth implantation when they’re missing, damaged, or shifted due to uneven bite, aesthetic requirements are significantly higher due to the need to preserve gum contour. In such cases, traditional prosthetic methods aren’t always effective, so micro-implants are used, placed immediately, i.e., in one clinic visit.

After losing one or several teeth, load on the dental apparatus becomes uneven, which negatively affects bone tissue condition and causes:

• Jaw blood supply disruption, leading to bone tissue atrophy and volume shortage, which is a contraindication for dental implantation
• Gum tumors. After removing these growths, jawbone deficiency may occur
• Jaw injuries that trigger cortical tissue resorption process after upper jaw tooth loss within 3 months, lower—within 6-12 months

This makes dental implantation impossible. Therefore, for its successful completion at “Med-Deo” clinic, before surgical interventions, such additional procedures are performed as:

1. Bone grafting (osteoplasty) necessary for bone tissue atrophy for reliable prosthesis fixation and accelerated implant healing. This procedure is also called “bone tissue augmentation.” It involves creating a bed for placing the artificial tooth root. In some cases, this operation is performed directly before implantation.
2. Sinus lift – introduction of bone-forming material under the maxillary sinus mucosa. This improves bone tissue condition and ensures successful implant placement.

The closed sinus lift method is considered minimally invasive and is used before immediate implant placement when upper jaw alveolar process height is at least 4 cm. This ensures primary implant stability. With the closed method, bone-forming material is introduced through the opening for implant placement.

The open sinus lift method is a two-stage surgical intervention when alveolar process height is less than 4-5 mm. Performed after forming a bone window in the maxillary sinus lateral wall. Through this window, the mucosa is separated from the sinus floor, where bone substitute material is introduced. In this case, dental implantation is performed 4-9 months after increasing alveolar bone height.

All bone augmentation methods involve jaw bone tissue reconstruction.

Autogenous bone grafting. A bone tissue block is taken from the retromolar area. It’s cut into thin plates and placed around the defect site. The space is filled with the patient’s own crushed bone.

Soft tissue grafting – augmentation with biomaterials Bio-Oss, 4Bone BCH, and others. They provide necessary bone tissue volume and undergo gradual resorption.

Sometimes in combination with bone splitting techniques (SBT), A-PRF injections and biostimulating laser are used.

How much does dental implantation with prior bone tissue restoration cost?

Average final bone tissue healing time is 3-4 months, ideally—six months. Dental implantation is only possible after complete grafted bone stabilization.

Final gum healing occurs from 3 to 6 months. During this period, implant osseointegration into the patient’s jawbone occurs, so doctor’s recommendations must be followed.

01 During the first 1-2 days after dental implant placement, try to talk as little as possible. Don’t consume very hot or alcoholic drinks; smoking is prohibited. From time to time, cool the face around the implant by applying a cold compress.

02 Throughout the healing period, avoid strong water jets, electronic toothbrush cleaning, and solid food consumption. Under no circumstances should products be chewed near the implant placement site.

03 After each meal, you should:

• Rinse mouth with warm water or use special rinses 3-4 times daily
• Avoid excessive loads, long walks, sports, sunbathing, and sauna
