В клініку потратив після поради друга, він проводив там чистку зубів. Я ж відвідував Мед-Део для пломбування зуба та видалення нерва. What is a dental nerve, and what is its purpose?

The dental nerve, or pulp, is a collection of nerve endings and blood vessels that perform a number of important functions.

It ensures normal tooth sensitivity, blood supply, and the delivery of nutrients and minerals to the tooth. Additionally, the dental nerve acts as a natural barrier that prevents pathogenic microorganisms from entering the root of the tooth. Does it hurt when the nerve in a tooth is removed? Many people are apprehensive about root canal treatment due to potential pain. However, even a procedure as complex and unpleasant as tooth nerve removal can be performed painlessly thanks to anesthesia. A single injection into the gums is sufficient to completely eliminate any discomfort. You should not take painkillers on your own before treatment so as not to interfere with the anesthetic’s effectiveness. An allergy test is performed before administering the anesthetic, so its use is completely safe.

Why does a tooth hurt after a root canal? As a rule, pain after a root canal subsides within a few days. However, the dentist may prescribe pain medication. Acute and prolonged pain can occur due to inflammation or when chewing food that is too hard. In any case, if you experience prolonged discomfort or pain, you should see a dentist.

How root canal treatments were performed in the past, and why there’s no need to fear this procedure today

Why are people reluctant to have a tooth nerve removed, even when they’re experiencing severe pain and inflammation?

The reason is that, in the past, the procedure was quite painful. For example, outdated methods of nerve removal were used in the past:

“Freezing” was used only when extracting the entire tooth, but not when removing the nerve.
Arsenic acid, which is harmful to health, was used to kill the nerve.
Diagnosis using X-rays was rare, and root canals were filled “blindly,” which could cause inflammation and require refilling.
Zinc phosphate pastes were used for fillings, but they were temporary, fell out easily, and required reinstallation.

It is no surprise that the procedure of pulpectomy (nerve removal) still causes fear in people today. However, thanks to advances in modern dentistry, the nerve removal procedure is now painless, and the tooth can function normally for a long time.

Root canal treatment is performed using modern techniques:

High-quality anesthesia is administered for all procedures;
the nerve is removed using a special paste, without the use of arsenic acid;
X-rays are used for diagnosis, helping to verify how securely the canals are filled;
high-quality materials are used to fill the canals, such as gutta-percha, which is highly durable and easily fills the canals.

Effective anesthesia allows dentists to quickly access the affected tissues and remove them through mechanical and medical treatment without causing discomfort to the patient. Using special dental instruments, the nerve is removed from the tooth in half an hour. During this time, the patient feels no pain, and there is no risk of complications. During the procedure, the dentist uses special equipment that allows them to monitor the process of removing the dental nerve. Stages of nerve removal

Покроково процедуру видалення зубного нерва можна описати так:

Стоматолог-терапевт проводить огляд ротової порожнини, вивчає рентгенівський знімок.
Потім проводиться місцева анестезія, щоб процедура пройшла максимально комфортно та безболісно для пацієнта, а лікар мав найкращий доступ до проблемної зони.
Обробка тканин зуба. Стоматолог видаляє уражену карієсом емаль та дентин.
Розкривається пульпа та видаляються внутрішні тканини зуба.

За допомогою одноразових інструментів виконується видалення нерва зуба із зубних каналів.
Зубні канали очищаються, розширюються, промиваються та пломбуються.
Після пломбування каналів виконується повторний рентген зуба, щоб лікар візуально переконався, як пройшло пломбування, і все було зроблено бездоганно.
На завершальному етапі встановлюється пломба, що реставрує.

Іноді, при сильному запаленні та запущеному карієсі, перед видаленням нерва зуба лікар закладає ліки у пульпу, а потім встановлює тимчасову пломбу. Вона разом із ліками видаляється під час другого візиту, і лише після цього пломбуються кореневі канали зуба та встановлюється постійна пломба.
