Types of metal-ceramic prosthetics

Metal-ceramic prostheses differ not only in materials but also in their design.

The types of prostheses include:

Single crowns – the crowns are fixed onto the affected tooth. This type is used if the natural tooth is destroyed by no more than 60%.
Bridges – these prostheses are used when a missing tooth needs to be restored or when a standard crown cannot be attached. In this case, the custom-made structure is anchored to the adjacent teeth. To achieve this, the adjacent teeth are prepared for crowns, and the nerve endings are removed.
Crowns with a shoulder mass (shoulder-based crowns) – these metal-ceramic crowns are installed on the front teeth. The shoulder helps to conceal the metal base and significantly improve the appearance.
