What do you need to know about tartar?

Soft food debris remaining on the teeth and gums attracts bacteria and microbes. They combine to turn into plaque on the tooth enamel. If this plaque is not removed daily, it calcifies due to mineral salts and transforms into tartar (dental calculus).

The main causes of tartar accumulation are as follows:

The process of professional teeth cleaning looks like this and includes several stages:

Post-professional dental cleaning care. After undergoing a dental cleaning, it is not recommended to eat for 1–2 hours. Additionally, you should avoid pigmented beverages and foods for a few days, such as coffee, strong tea, carbonated drinks, wine, juice, berries, and chocolate. It is best to brush your teeth with toothpastes that do not contain abrasive whitening components. The doctor will provide detailed recommendations after the procedure.
